Christopher Nolan and Aaron Sorkin are the big winners at the WGA awards

After being the victim of the one of the worst snubs in Academy Award history, Christopher Nolan can take comfort in the fact that the Writer’s Guild of America believes his original screenplay for INCEPTION was the best of the year. I know, it doesn’t compare to a Best Director Academy Award, but it’s something. Aaron Sorkin also won for best adapted screenplay for his work on THE SOCIAL NETWORK, which all but solidifies his Academy Award. The other winner in the “screen” category was Charles Ferguson for best documentary screenplay in INSIDE JOB.
The WGA also hands out television awards and this year ‘Mad Men’ won for best drama and ‘Modern Family’ won for best comedy. ‘Mad Men’ also won for best episodic drama while ’30 Rock’ won for best episodic comedy. All in all, no real surprises here, but it is nice to see Christopher Nolan win an award.
