Christopher Nolan announces The Dark Knight Rises, fanboys everywhere rejoice

Today is a big day for fanboys around the world as Christopher Nolan finally announced the title of his third Batman film will be THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. But even more exciting is that The Riddler will not be the villain in the third film. It has been speculated since THE DARK KNIGHT came out that The Riddler would be the obvious choice, but apparently not. Regarding the characters in the film, Nolan said: “We’ll use many of the same characters as we have all along, and we’ll be introducing some new ones”.
He went on to mention that the film won’t be shot in 3D and that Warner Brothers supported that decision. Let this be a sign to all the filmmakers out there that if you make a quality, original film, you don’t need 3D. Kudos for Nolan for avoiding that gimmick. THE DARK KNIGHT RISES will star Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine and hits theaters July 20th, 2012.
