Christopher Nolan will take over directing duties from Steven Spielberg on Interstellar
Even though we’re only ten days into 2013, this piece of news feels like a New Year’s treat. It’s been reported that Christopher Nolan is in talks to direct and produce the film INTERSTELLAR, which is a science fiction project that had Steven Spielberg attached to direct a couple of years ago. INTERSTELLAR will deal with all sorts of fun things like time travel, alternate dimensions and wormholes, and I can’t think of a director I want behind the camera more. INTERSTELLAR was written by Christopher Nolan’s brother Jonathan Nolan, and since the two are not only siblings but longtime collaborators this project seems like an almost definite even though negotiations are still going on. No word on when the studio wants to start production, but hopefully it won’t be too long before we hear something about this film.
I’m sure you all now know that Christopher Nolan’s last project, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, was snubbed by the Academy Awards this year (click the link to see the full list of nominees), but hopefully there is still a little gold statuette on the horizon for Mr. Nolan. I’m not sure INTERSTELLAR is the project that will get it for him, but it would be fantastic if that happened. (THR)
