Clash of the Titans 2 production starts; Gemma Arterton not returning

CLASH OF THE TITANS 2 (which may or may not be entitled WRATH OF THE TITANS, no confirmation from studio) has begun production and we can now confirm that Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes will be returning to their former Greek glory. Additional cast members include: Rosamund Pike, Bill Nighy, Danny Huston, Edgar Ramirez, Toby Koebell but no Gemma Arterton. I guess the return of her character, Io, would have been tough since she was really just a guide in the first film and was almost a pointless character anyway. Oh well. Shooting will take place in Europe and the film is set for a March 2012 release.
CLASH OF THE TITANS 2 will follow Perseus (Worthington) who is pulled from his quite life, raising his 10-year-old son back into the wars between the gods. This time Hades (Fiennes) and Ares (Ramirez) have made a deal with the king of the Titans, Kronos, to overthrow Zeus (Neeson) and regain power over Earth. Perseus must again step in and save the day as hell literally breaks loose on Earth.
