Colin Farrell and Kate Beckinsale in new photos from Total Recall and a Spoiler
Hopefully by now you know that the 1990 film TOTAL RECALL starring Arnold Schwarzenegger is being remade with Colin Farrell as the main star Doug Quaid and co-starring Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel. Though a remake came as a shock to most of us, what is more shocking is that the remake doesn’t look nearly as bad as one would have thought. Directed by Len Wiseman, TOTAL RECALL follows Doug Quaid (Colin Farrell), a depressed man who goes to a place that specializes in making your dreams come true. Unfortunately, Quaid is thrown into a situation where he can’t distinguish what is real and what is the fantasy that was planted into his brain.
Interesting enough, right? Well there’s a twist in this remake and with it I must give you an official SPOILER ALERT. Do not read any further if you want to be surprised when watching the film. Here we go. If you’ve been following the TOTAL RECALL film at all then you’ve probably heard that veteran actor Ethan Hawke will be making an appearance. Well, producer Toby Jaffe has pretty much given away Ethan Hawke’s role in an interview, saying, “ Not to give away too much, but one of the big differences between the earlier film and this film is that not only do they erase his memory but they change the way he looks, so he has a different face. Ethan plays who he was before they wiped his mind and changed his face.” That is quite the spoiler, yes?
To recap, TOTAL RECALL is being directed by Len Wiseman and will star: Colin Farrell (FRIGHT NIGHT), Kate Beckinsale (UNDERWORLD series), Jessica Biel (NEW YEAR’S EVE), Bill Nighy (LOVE ACTUALLY), John Cho (HAROLD & KUMAR GO TO WHITE CASTLE) and Bryan Cranston (DRIVE). TOTAL RECALL is set to hit theaters on August 3, 2012. (Collider/ScreenRant)
