Colin Firth will not join Josh Brolin for the Oldboy remake

Posted by: Zack Bruce

Here we are, back to the American version of OLDBOY. I know this is going to get made but it seems that they are having problems trying to get people to stick with it. Spike Lee is still set to direct with Josh Brolin taking the lead, however someone else has passed on joining the cast.

Colin Firth was offered the role of the villain who kidnaps the protagonist and imprisons him for reasons unknown. I guess it wasn’t something he wanted to do because the actor has passed on the opportunity. There’s really no exact reason as to why he decided not to take the part. The only other thing I can think of that Firth has on his schedule is BRIDGET JONES’S BABY. I’m sure he’s got other projects on his plate as well.

So the hunt will be on to find another bad guy for the film. Will they go with the original and find someone younger? Or will they continue on with someone a little older?
