Concept art including a look at Lucifier from Alex Proyas' Paradise Lost
Posted by: Zack Bruce
Required reading for any high school student includes a copy of John Milton’s “Paradise Lost”. If it doesn’t, you’ll hear it over and over again in college as it is easy to find parallels between Milton’s work and other pieces of literature inspired by it after “Paradise Lost” was written. You’ll also find several filmmakers who are inspired by the piece to this day.
Alex Proyas (THE CROW, DARK CITY) is one of those filmmakers. The director has been working on an adaptation of Milton’s epic poem with Bradley Cooper set to star as Lucifier. Should be interesting, right? I guarantee it.
Here’s the story: “Lucifer and Michael, God’s greatest archangels, share the bond of extraordinary friendship until God produces his greatest creation: Man. Unable to remain subservient to God if it means bowing down to humanity, Lucifer begins his dark descent and is cast out – only to plot his revenge.”
Concept art, including a look at Lucifier was shown at Comic-Con this past weekend. The images of hell and angels are exactly what I would picture from an adaptation. Some of the shots are lo-res but give you an idea of what they will be shooting for.
