Daniel Craig stands behind the first look at Ben Whishaw in Skyfall
With all the superhero movies this summer and DJANGO UNCHAINED and THE HOBBIT coming out on Christmas, I’ve almost forgotten that Daniel Craig‘s James Bond makes a very welcomed return this November. And although it was pretty much known before today, it was announced that Ben Whishaw (from the BBC miniseries The Hour) will be playing Q in the 23rd James Bond film. Whishaw follows a very respected lineage of actors playing Q, becoming the fourth actor to play him. Peter Burton was the original Q in DR. NO, then was replaced by Desmond Llewelyn, who was Q the longest and appeared in over 17 films and then passed the reigns to John Cleese.
It makes sense to go with a younger actor to play Q since Daniel Craig’s James Bond is supposed to take place before the other Bonds we’ve seen. Whishaw is a talented actor and should add a bit of humor to the film, which was missing in QUANTUM OF SOLACE. SKYFALL stars Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, Ben Whishaw, Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney, Javier Bardem, Naomie Harris and Bérénice Marlohe. Directed by Sam Mendes, SKYFALL opens in theaters on November 9, 2012. (Facebook)
