Daniel Radcliffe to star in All Quiet On The Western Front

Daniel Radcliffe has been cast as the lead in a remake of number 54 on the American Film Institutes Top 100 Movies, ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT.  Based off the novel by Erich Maria Remarque the story is about a German soldier fighting in the trenches of France during WWI.  The original won a Best Picture and Best Director Oscar for Lewis Milestone.  The current picture has yet to announce a director.  This is a long way from Hogwarts for Mr. Potter.  I understand Radcliffe had great reviews for his stint on Broadway but that only accounts for a very tiny bit of exposure compared to the enormous mass appeal viewings of the HARRY POTTER films.  Will audiences accept him as another character?

Is it possible, fifteen years from now every film will just be a newer version of a movie that was made before it? I guess at least it’s a remake of a film made in 1930 and rarely seen by Potter fans.
