David Gordon Green to direct the movie based on The Barefoot Bandit

Geesh. The kid was just caught a couple of weeks ago and Hollywood is already setting the wheels in motion to make a movie about his crime spree. 20th Century Fox has hired screenwriter Dustin Lance Black to write the story of Colton Harris-Moore, who is better known as The Barefoot Bandit. PINEAPPLE EXPRESS director David Gordon Green is in final negotiations to direct the film, which doesn’t have a lead actor or a finished script just yet. My guess is that it’s going to be hard to film/write the final act until we see what eventually happens to the young thief.
Harris-Moore, for those that don’t read non-movie news, gained infamy in Northwest America and Canada for committing numerous robberies, including stealing aircraft, boats and cars. But he got his nickname for his routine of taking off his shoes before breaking into private residences. His capture was pretty exciting, cultivating in a chase to the Bahamas after he stole an aircraft and crashed it onto the shoreline of one of the islands. This should make for a good film, although it will have to be “Hollywood-ized” for it to resonate well on the big screen.
