David O. Russell abandons Nailed with Jessica Biel and Jake Gyllenhaal

David O. Russell is a notoriously difficult director to work with. He had the famous spat with George Clooney on the set of THREE KINGS and then a shouting match with Lily Tomlin on I HEART HUCKABEES, which I’ve always found odd because both of those actors are seemingly nice people. So it’s no surprise that Russell is having issues again on his latest film, NAILED. Although technically, he filmed NAILED more than two years ago, but was never able to finish it due to spats with the film’s financiers David Bergstein and Ron Tutor. Russell had this to say about his departure:
“The multiple production delays and stoppages, which were caused by David Bergstein and preceded Ron Tutor’s direct involvement with me, have now spanned two years, and the circumstances under which the film would now be completed are much different on several fundamental levels than when we embarked several years ago. I, unfortunately, am no longer involved in the project and cannot call it ‘my’ film. I wish Ron Tutor well.”
In the film, Jessica Biel plays a timid secretary that gets shot in the head with a nail gun, leading to her having wild sexual urges. She takes her case to Washington D.C. where she vows to help people with bizarre injuries. While there, she meets a corrupt politician played by Jake Gyllenhaal, who takes advantage of her situation.
