Denis Leary to join Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone in Spider-Man reboot

Denis Leary is in negotiations to play Police Captain George Stacy in the new SPIDER-MAN reboot. Captain Stacy is father to Gwen Stacy, Peter Parker’s love interest in the new film. If you remember James Cromwell portrayed the character in SPIDER-MAN 3.
Leary would be joining a quickly growing cast including Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben Parker, possibly Sally Field as Aunt May Parker and Rhys Ifans as the to-be-determined villain. And of course, Andrew Garfield will play the webbed hero and his alias Peter Parker along with Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy. Marc Webb will direct with a July 3, 2012 release. Leary has always been bitingly funny and has found steady success on the FX drama Rescue Me. He should be a nice addition to the unnecessary Marvel Comic reboot.
