Diane Keaton, Richard Jenkins and Kevin Kline star in the Darling Companion trailer

Diane Keaton in Darling Companion

I’m a sucker for movies about dogs, but I get angry whenever a movie tries to sell itself as being about dogs and then turns out to be something else entirely.  I’m not completely accusing DARLING COMPANION of milking the dog angle, but everything we’ve seen so far from the film features star Diane Keaton with her canine companion.  But after watching the trailer, it doesn’t seem like the canine has much to do with the film, other than to serve as the catalyst to get the film going.  The movie is about a woman that loves her dog more than her husband, but when her husband loses the dog, she enlists the help of a group of party guests to help her find her dog.

DARLING COMPANION stars Diane Keaton, Richard Jenkins, Kevin Kline, Elisabeth Moss, Mark Duplass, Dianne Wiest and Sam Shepard.  The Lawrence Kasdan directed film hits theaters in  a limited release on April 20th.
