Don't Be Afraid of the Dark starring Katie Holmes and Guy Pearce gets a release date

The Guillermo del Toro produced film DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK has finally gotten a release date as it was delayed by the Miramax library sale last year. Horror fans will be excited to see that it will hit theaters this coming August 12th. The film stars Katie Holmes and Guy Pearce and follows a family that moves to a mansion located in Rhode Island. Little do they know that mysterious creatures also reside there and want to take the girl (which I’m assuming is Holmes and not some kid) and do something most likely unpleasant. The film has been one that horror fans have been anticipating ever since last year’s Comic-Con.

Since I’m a huge wuss, I have no desire to see this at all. That and it’s not even directed by Guillermo del Toro, it’s actually directed by Troy Nixey, they are just using del Toro’s name to get financing and sell more tickets. Is this brilliant or cheap?
