Dwayne Johnson and Alexandra Daddario survive an earthquake in the first San Andreas trailer
Although he’s successfully revived a few franchises, Dwayne Johnson hasn’t really been able to carry his own big budget film. While most would pass off SAN ANDREAS as another disaster flick, the first trailer is trying to sell it as something more and the focus in the first teaser trailer was heavy on the drama (including an eerie rendition of ‘California Dreamin’) and light on The Rock. That actually gives me hope for the film that it will be more than The Rock running around acting tough and might actually do something different with the disaster genre. But if nothing else, we should get some cool CGI and a very intense Paul Giamatti. Check out the first trailer below.
The official SAN ANDREAS synopsis: After the infamous San Andreas Fault finally gives, triggering a magnitude 9 earthquake in California, a search and rescue helicopter pilot (Johnson) and his estranged wife make their way together from Los Angeles to San Francisco to save their only daughter. But their treacherous journey north is only the beginning, and when they think the worst may be over…it’s just getting started. SAN ANDREAS stars Dwayne Johnson, Carla Gugino, Kylie Minogue, Paul Giamatti, Alexandra Daddario, Ioan Gruffudd, Archie Panjabi, Hugo Johnstone-Burt and Art Parkinson. The Brad Peyton directed film hits theaters on May 29th, 2015.
