Dwayne Johnson, Bruce Willis and Channing Tatum in the new G.I. Joe: Retaliation trailer
Paramount has released another trailer to the upcoming sequel G.I. JOE: RETALIATION and I wish I could say I’m excited to see it (because I do love Dwayne Johnson), but I’m just not. Though it wasn’t anything terrific, I did enjoy the first film G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA and was looking forward to this one. In fact, after I saw the first trailer I was a bit enthused about the sequel. However, now I’m a little skeptical but I can’t quite put my finger on why. It can’t be because of Bruce Willis or Dwayne Johnson because both of these action stars always keep my attention, maybe the trailer was just a little too pedestrian and something I had seen before. Either way, take a look for yourself and see what you think.
The plot for G.I. JOE: RETALIATION is simple enough as Cobra spy, Zartan (Arnold Vosloo) has killed off the majority of the Joes and the rest of the team, led by Roadblock (Dwayne Johnson) I pressume, must get back together to exact some revenge. Nothing special and pretty straight forward, but that doesn’t mean it will necessarily be executed well. The film stars Channing Tatum as Duke, Dwayne Johnson as Roadblock, Ray Park as Snake Eyes, Lee Byong-Hun as Storm Shadow, Elodie Yung as Jinx, Adrianne Palicki as Lady Jaye, D.J. Cortona as Flint, Ray Stevenson as Firefly, Arnold Vosloo as Zartan, Eddie Hargitay as Tunnel Rat and Bruce Willis as General Joe Colton. Jon M. Chu is directing the film that hits theaters on August 10th, 2012.
I’m really happy to see Dwayne Johnson back in a blockbuster-esque film. I know he had a couple of decent films the past couple of years (FASTER and FAST FIVE) but we need to see Dwayne Johnson in another big film that’s not JOURNEY 2: THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND. Maybe Dwayne Johnson just needs another film that has the word fast in the title, those seem to work well for him.
