Dwayne Johnson might star in the Baywatch movie…seriously
Let’s just get this out of the way; a Baywatch movie is not the worst thing in the world. Or at least it doesn’t have to be. If they go the 21 JUMP STREET route and don’t take themselves too seriously, it might work. Then again, even if they don’t take themselves seriously, it could still be disastrous (DUKES OF HAZZARD). But really, the only guaranteed way of making a horrible BAYWATCH movie is to make it serious. Right now, we don’t know what direction they’re going, but we do know they desperately want Dwayne Johnson to star and he’s “tentatively attached”. In Hollywood terms, that means he’s going to sign on if a) they pay him a truckload of money and b) the internet reacts favorably to his casting. And it should be noted that “a” trumps “b” every time.
To lead this potential disaster, Paramount has enlisted Sean Anders and John Morris (HORRIBLE BOSSES 2) to direct, which of course leads me to believe this is a comedy all the way. Justin Malen was also hired to do a rewrite. But before anyone gets up in arms about Dwayne Johnson starring, know that this is all unconfirmed right now and Paramount hasn’t released an official statement yet. (THR)
