Dwayne Johnson signs on for The Monster Hunter's Survival Guide

Dwayne Johnson will always have the award for the most confusing career in Hollywood. The guy finally goes back and does an action movie (FASTER) and it turns out to be a dud. Then he does the fifth film in a franchise (FAST FIVE), which everyone said he was better than, and it turns out to be fun. And then we see something like JOURNEY 2: THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND and we’re reminded why The Rock isn’t a bigger star than he is; he just can’t choose decent films. So although the idea of him starring in the big screen adaptation of the graphic novel THE MONSTER HUNTER’S SURVIVAL GUIDE is appealing, I have a hard time being too excited.
The graphic novel was written by John Paul Russ and Anthony Spay. No other information is known about the film and right now, Dwayne Johnson is the only person attached to the project that still needs a director. I’m not familiar with the novel, but the official transcript from Amazon.com reads:
Monsters surround us. They’re everywhere; on TV, in movies… they haunt our nightmares. But are they real? Do Vampires, Werewolves, and Zombies really exist? And if so, how can we survive against them? At last here is the comprehensive guide every Monster Hunter must have! Whether you’re a weekend Bigfoot hunter or a hardcore Vampire slayer you simply can’t afford not to own this book. The Monster Hunters Survival Guide will not only instruct you on how to be the first to catch one of these mysterious Cryptids – but it’s the only way you’ll be able to survive the experience!
