Edward Norton, Robert De Niro and Milla Jovovich in the Stone trailer

I don’t think I had heard anything about STONE until I saw this first trailer. All the news about Edward Norton these days revolves around his being replaced in THE AVENGERS while all the news about Robert De Niro is about him switching agents and trying to get his career back on track. It seems that people are so obsessed with the movies they aren’t doing that they didn’t even notice the movies they are doing. In STONE, Edward Norton plays an inmate looking for parole and De Niro plays the aging clerk about to retire. Things get complicated when the wife (Milla Jovovich) starts playing them against each other.
I like Norton as an actor, but sometimes when he plays these quirky characters, I don’t see him become the character, I always see Edward Norton pretending to be someone else. I’m not sure if that’s a limitation he has as an actor or me just not buying into his performances. Either way, let’s hope Norton and De Niro redeem themselves after their last collaboration, THE SCORE, turned out to be a bore. Watch the trailer here.
