Eliminators Blu-ray Review

Martin Parker (Scott Adkins) lives a ho-hum life. He resides in London with his young daughter Carly (Lily Ann Harland-Stubbs). There is sadness in Martin’s eyes as he looks at old photos of his wife. As Martin takes Carly to school, his focus is on the cars behind him. There is paranoia there. Martin whittles away his life as a security guard. He barely stays awake as there is boredom a plenty. His past life though is going to come back to haunt him.

Eliminators

Martin and Carly’s lives are forever changed when three guys break into their home in a case of mistaken identity. Martin shows off his hidden skills, but his injuries put him into the hospital. He awakes with his hand handcuffed and being charged with murder. Carly is taken away with child services. This is bad news all around for Martin as his identity is revealed on the news. Arms dealer Charles Cooper (James Cosmos) is quite interested in his plight. Cooper is shown early on murdering two people after they complain about the guns he supplied. This is a man that is not to be trifled with.

Cooper hires a well known hit man named Bishop (WWE star Wade Barrett) to finish off Martin and get revenge for an earlier action. Bishop is a guy who has no conscience. He apparently doesn’t have a family and takes pride in his work. This work has paid off for him in the last decade. Meanwhile the American government knows what trouble Martin is in and sends over a person to help him out.

Eliminators

ELIMINATORS is a film from the WWE Studios. So you know what you are in for. There will be plenty of action, wrestling, hand to hand fighting and car chases. Director James Nunn keeps the action going at full throttle. He never quite lets the story breathe. There is little background that is known about the characters. It is filled in when needed. This provides for a sterile experience. You don’t know these people and what exactly they’ve been through. The movie wants you to root for Martin, but the story keeps you at arms length.

The fight scenes are somewhat competent. There are instances where you can clearly see the punches missing their mark. That takes you out of the movie experience and tells you that yes indeed you are watching a film. There is a clever sequence where Martin is fighting two lads above ground in a confined space. But sequences like this are too few to save the film.

ELIMINATORS is a lackluster action flick that never surprises and is completely forgettable.
