Emilia Clarke and Arnold Schwarzenegger in the first look at Terminator: Genisys
We haven’t seen any real footage from TERMINATOR: GENISYS, but people are already displeased with the concept. The plot details leaked a few days ago and to recap, the new story will follow Sarah Connor as a younger woman who was raised by an older, softer version of the T-800 Terminator who has raised her and protected since she was young after another Terminator killed her parents. For those that aren’t familiar with all of the Terminator models, the T-800 is Arnold Schwarzenegger. So yeah, this movie will turn Arnold into a robot dad. That means that TERMINATOR: GENISYS will basically pull a X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST and use time travel to erase the movies that came before it. The difference, of course, is that the X-Men universe needed fixing after X3 and although T3 wasn’t great, it didn’t ruin the first two Terminator films.
Well, today we get better looks at the cast of the film, which includes Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese (originally played by Michael Biehn in the original), Jason Clarke as John Connor, along with J.K. Simmons, Matt Smith, Byung-hun Lee, Courtney B. Vance and Douglas Smith. The Alan Taylor directed film hits theaters on July 1st, 2015. If you’re wondering how they’re going to work in the fact that John Connor is significantly older than Emilia Clarke who will be playing his mother, my guess is that the movie will focus on two parallel storylines with one being in the future and the other in the past.
