Emily Browning and Jon Hamm love scene cut from Sucker Punch

The latest Zack Snyder film, SUCKER PUNCH, will be opening in theaters in only two day and I really thought the marketing push was over, but I guess not. In a recent magazine interview Emily Browning talks about a love scene her character had with MAD MEN star Jon Hamm that was cut from the film so that SUCKER PUNCH could get its PG-13 rating. She states, ” I had a very tame and mild love scene with Jon Hamm. It was like heavy breathing and making out. It was hardly a sex scene… I think that it’s great for this young girl to actually take control of her own sexuality. Well, the MPAA doesn’t like that.” She’s very right, the MPAA doesn’t like that at all. Turns out that Snyder was going to leave an alternate cut of the scene in the film, but ended up cutting that as well because it didn’t send the right message. Browning goes on to say in the interview that even though a lot of cool scenes got cut from the film, she wants younger girls to be able to see the movie because it’s empowering to women. We’ll all just have to hope there’s a director’s cut on the Blu-ray release.
SUCKER PUNCH opens in theaters on March 25, 2011 and stars: Emily Browning, Vanessa Hudgens, Jamie Chung, Jena Malone, Abbie Cornish, Jon Hamm and Carla Gugino.
