Emma Watson and Logan Lerman get close on the poster for The Perks Of Being A Wallflower
One of my biggest pet peeves, and something that’s become commonplace lately in Hollywood, is the idea of trailers for trailers. Why on earth would we want to see a ten second preview of a two minute advertisement? What sense does that make and why are studios doing that now? I can’t answer those questions, but I can tell you that the full length trailer for Emma Watson‘s THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER is going to be released on Sunday night and should be available everywhere shortly thereafter. And even though there’s a teaser for the trailer out, I’m taking a stand and not posting it. And oh look, here’s the poster for the film. It’s nice to see Ezra Miller in something other than WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN and even though it’s just him standing against a green wall, he looks normal. Hopefully he’s not a deranged psychopath in this film and after watching it, maybe I’ll be able to look at him and not see Kevin. I can’t even watch him on interviews without seeing that crazy look in his eyes.
The film stars Emma Watson (from Harry Potter fame), Logan Lerman, Mae Whitman, Nina Dobrev (from TV’s ‘Vampire Diaries’), Paul Rudd and Johnny Simmons. The Stephen Choblosky directed film (who also wrote the book the film is based on) hits theaters in 2012. I would hesitate to say I have a lot of hope for this film since I’m not familiar with the novel at all, but I feel like there’s been a serious void of coming of age movies lately and this one sounds promising. Every generation should have their staple coming of age film. And of course, I’m eagerly anticipating Emma Watson’s first non Harry Potter role. With all due respect to Daniel Radcliffe, I always thought Emma Watson was the one that had the best chance of making it outside of Hogwarts.
