Emma Watson insists she's not starring in Fifty Shades of Grey

I usually find that when it comes to Hollywood rumors, the old saying “where there’s smoke, there’s fire” usually applies. But I was skeptical when news broke the other day that the hacker group Anonymous had uncovered proof that Emma Watson was going to be playing Anastasia Steele in the adaptation of E.L. James erotic novel FIFTY SHADES OF GREY. Supposedly, they stole a bunch of files from Constantin Films and one of the documents alluded to Emma Watson being cast in the film. The internet blew up with the suggestion, but all the document said was “maybe Emma Watson” and to be fair, Emma Watson has been attached loosely to the role since it was first announced.
But Emma Watson was having none of it and so she took to her Twitter account to set the record straight: “Who here actually thinks I would do 50 Shades of Grey as a movie? Like really. For real. In real life”. This jives with what she said last summer, likening the situation to her attachment to THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO in the sense that she was never going to do it. So I guess for everyone hoping to turn your Harry Potter fantasies into reality, this is a disappointment. But I personally couldn’t see Emma Watson doing this kind of film. And now we’re back to square one when it comes to who actually will be starring in the film.
