Emma Watson, Logan Lerman and Ezra Miller in The Perks of Being a Wallflower trailer
Yesterday, we showed you the poster for THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER and today we get the first full length trailer for the film. As I alluded to yesterday, I’m a sucker for coming of age films and I have to say that this one looks like it captures the teenage angst and outcast feeling of being a teenager pretty well. Whether or not that translates effectively in the final film remains to be seen, but they’re off to a good start. And I also have to point out that Emma Watson looks like she does a great job in THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER. From looking at the trailer, it feels like the movie is going to hinge on the audiences ability to fall in love with her character and that’s a lot of pressure for someone that hasn’t proved themselves post-Harry Potter yet. But if this trailer is any indication, Emma Watson nails the part. And is it just me, or does Logan Lerman look really young in this?
THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER stars Emma Watson, Logan Lerman, Mae Whitman, Nina Dobrev (from TV’s ‘Vampire Diaries’, who was in the trailer only briefly), Paul Rudd (playing the cool teacher, who I’m sure will teach some life lessons) and Johnny Simmons. The Stephen Choblosky directed film (who also wrote the book the film is based on) hits theaters on September 14th, 2012. Choblosky has written several things, including the film adaptation of RENT and several episodes of TV’s ‘Jericho’. He also directed the little seen 1995 film THE FOUR CORNERS OF NOWHERE. But let’s face it, THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER is really his first test as a director. The guy is 42 years-old now, so it will be interesting to see if he accurately captures what it’s like for a teenager growing up today.
