Eva Mendes acquires a case of Anxiety

Eva Mendes has just signed on for the indie drama ANXIETY directed by Patricia Riggen and the screenplay was written by Hiram Martinez. The film will follow Mendes as a mother of a 13-year old kid who is in a funk and tries to change it by “embarking on a classic teen rite of passage.” Maybe I’m a little slow today, but I don’t know what a “classic teen rite of passage” would entail, unless it’s just sleeping around and if that’s the case then why be so vague. If any of you readers out there can shed some light on this for me I would be much appreciated.
ANXIETY will start shooting next month in Vancouver, British Columbia with no set release date. Producers are wanting to get the film ready for the Toronto International Film Festival which takes place in September but we may not see a domestic release until sometime in 2012.
