Felicity Jones lands the lead role in the Star Wars spin-off
Fun fact: everything you read about Star Wars is probably a lie until you hear it straight from Disney. But with that in mind, THR is reporting that THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING actress, Felicity Jones, has nabbed the lead role in the first Star Wars spin-off, which still doesn’t have a title. It was reported earlier that Rooney Mara, Tatiana Maslany and Kate Mara were all in the running, but it looks like Felicity Jones has landed the lead role. Obviously, there was a specific type they were looking for.
We don’t know for sure what the plot will entail, but it’s rumored it will revolve around a group of bounty hunters that steal the plans to the Death Star. Aaron Paul and Edgar Ramirez are rumored to be up for the male lead and at one time, Paul was rumored to be a young Han Solo, but he has since denied that. What we do know is that Gareth Edwards is directing the film and that a script is being written by Chris Weitz. But don’t get too attached to Weitz as a screenwriter because writers come and go on these Star Wars films on a regular basis. The spin-off hits theaters on December 16th, 2016.
Side note: is it just me, or does Felicity Jones look like a young Carrie Fisher? I know that’s never even been breathed as a rumor, but it wouldn’t surprise me if we find out later on this film revolves around a young Princess Leia.
