First images of Jason Segel in the new Muppets movie

Entertainment Weekly has just posted a couple of new photos of some of the Muppets and Jason Segel to promote the new Muppet movie from Disney. The film is to be directed by James Bobin and written by Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller. The movie is set to be released on December 25, 2011 and will star Jason Segel, Chris Cooper and Amy Adams. If you look below you’ll get to see the latest addition to the Muppets, Walter (he’s the one holding the phone). The article in Entertainment Weekly describes him as:

“a sweet, slightly naive twenty-something Everypuppet who, in the movie, is the best friend and roommate of Segel’s character, Gary. Both Gary and Walter are die-hard Muppet fans. Walter is the kind of guy who faints when he sees Kermit,” Bobin told the magazine. “Walter has a little bit of a self-confidence issue because he’s the only person like him that he’s seen aside from the Muppets,” Segel explained. “His dream is to meet the Muppets and be around people who are like him.”

According to the article, the plot involves Segel and Walter getting the old Muppet gang (Kermit, Piggy, etc) back together to put on a show to save the Muppet Theater that is in danger of being demolished.
