Gemma Arterton and Jeremy Renner are bounty hunters in Hansel and Gretel

As a whole, the fairy tale of Hansel and Gretel completely freaked me out as a kid and I think that was because the witch liked to eat children and they were dumb enough to go into a strangers house. Flash forward to Hollywood’s upcoming version of the classic fairy tale, which they will call HANSEL AND GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS and all of the sudden I feel better about the whole situation. It has been confirmed (by someone other than herself) that Gemma Arterton has landed the lead role in the upcoming supernatural thriller and will be playing sibling bounty hunters with Jeremy Renner. The film will be directed by Tommy Wirkola and will begin shooting early March 2011.
I can’t think of a better way to deal with a traumatic childhood event like Hansel and Gretel’s, than by turning into bounty hunters and protecting innocent children from witches who want to eat them. Maybe they should also give those kids a safety lesson on not talking to strangers.
