George Clooney and Jean Dujardins in new images from Monuments Men
Adam Sandler takes a lot of slack because we know that almost every other movie he makes is just an excuse for him to have a giant vacation with all of his friends on someone else’s dime. But George Clooney does the same thing, only we don’t complain because his movies aren’t horrible. That, and sometimes they even go on to win awards. George Clooney can next be seen floating through space in the incredible GRAVITY, but later in the year he and his friends are starring in MONUMENTS MEN. Today we have a great look of Mr. Clooney on set, along with the first images of fellow Academy Award winner Jean Dujardins, looking like he’s ready to seriously protect some historical artifacts.
The official MONUMENTS MEN synopsis: Based on the true story of the greatest treasure hunt in history, The Monuments Men is an action-thriller focusing on an unlikely World War II platoon, tasked by FDR with going into Germany to rescue artistic masterpieces from Nazi thieves and returning them to their rightful owners. It would be an impossible mission: with the art trapped behind enemy lines, and with the German army under orders to destroy everything as the Reich fell, how could these guys – seven museum directors, curators, and art historians, all more familiar with Michelangelo than the M-1 – possibly hope to succeed? But as the Monuments Men, as they were called, found themselves in a race against time to avoid the destruction of 1000 years of culture, they would risk their lives to protect and defend mankind’s greatest achievements.
Directed by George Clooney, THE MONUMENTS MEN stars: Matt Damon, George Clooney, Cate Blanchett, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Jean Dujardin, Bob Balaban and Hugh Bonneville. THE MONUMENTS MEN opens in theaters December 18th, 2013. Just in time for awards season. (Premiere)
