Get your Harry Potter movies while you can, Warner Bros. is putting them in the vault

I’m actually surprised no studio has mimicked Disney’s practice of releasing films for a limited time and then putting them in a “vault”. It’s a practice that has served Disney well as they create an urgency in their customers to buy their product and then excitement when they finally bring something out of the vault. There were rumblings Warner Bros. was going to try this with their Harry Potter franchise and now we have confirmation that beginning December 29th, WB will stop production on all Harry Potter DVD’s and Blu-rays. This includes the release of HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS PART 2, which hits Blu-ray on November 11th. So if you want your Harry Potter films and you can’t get enough of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, you better snatch them up this holiday season.
Perhaps not understanding the purpose of Disney’s vault, Warner Bros. is actually going to re-release all the Harry Potter films in 2012. So if you don’t have any of the Potter films and can wait, then I’m sure there will be a whole new batch of goodies on next year’s releases.
