Hailee Steinfeld may join Romeo & Juliet

Hailee Steinfeld is in talks to take on the classic William Shakespeare play ROMEO & JULIET for indie director Carlo Carlie. If she signs on, this would be Steinfeld’s first role since her breakout performance in last year’s Academy Award nominated film TRUE GRIT. The adaptation is being written by Julian Fellowes who also is co-producing along with Garbiele Muccino. No word on who is up for the role of Romeo, but if Steinfeld signs on look for potential names to be thrown out in the next week or two.

I know that all of my readers are well versed in the classic tale of Romeo & Juliet, however, I still feel obligated to give you a quick synopsis just in case you are having a brain-fart. Romeo & Juliet are each from rival families who happen to meet at a party where they are instantly attracted and fall in love without knowing who the other is. When they do discover that one is a Capulet and the other a Montegue, they decided to run off to get married but their plan turns tragic. Yes, I’m gleaning over a lot of details but you get the gist of it.
