Harrison Ford, Asa Butterfield and Hailee Steinfeld star in the first Ender's Game trailer

Harrison Ford in Ender's Game

I can’t say I had much interest in the adaptation of ENDER’S GAME, probably because I’m not that familiar with the story, but also because I keep hearing how hard it’s going to be to bring to the big screen.  But maybe it’s the nice special effects or the joy of seeing Harrison Ford back in a science fiction movie, but the first trailer for ENDER’S GAME actually looks fun.  I could have done without the voice-over and I’m not sure what kind of accent Asa Butterfield has, but the story looks exciting and the idea of training kids to fight space wars is intriguing.  But I haven’t read any of the books the film is based on, so I can’t say whether or not they’ve stayed true to the original book from Orson Scott Card.

Directed by Gavin Hood, ENDER’S GAME stars: Harrison Ford, Abigail Breslin, Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, Ben Kingsley, Nonso Anozie, Stevie Ray Dillmore and Viola Davis. ENDER’S GAME will hit theaters on November 1st, 2013.

ENDER’S GAME official synopsis: In the near future, a hostile alien race called the Formics have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Hyrum Graff (Harrison Ford) and the International Military are training only the best young minds to find the future Mazer.  Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy but strategically brilliant boy, is recruited to join the elite. Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult challenges and simulations, distinguishing himself and winning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soon ordained by Graff as the military’s next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command School. Once there, he’s trained by Mazer Rackham himself to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.
