Harrison Ford is reportedly in talks to play Deckard in the Blade Runner sequel
Like it or not, a BLADE RUNNER sequel is going to happen. As Ridley Scott goes back and does sequels/prequels to all of his old films, we just have to accept that nothing is sacred. So the only question remaining now is whether or not Deckard (played by Harrison Ford in the original) is going to make an appearance in the sequel or if they’ll go the prequel/side-story route like they’re doing with PROMETHEUS. Well, if Twitch is to be believed, Harrison Ford is in talks to play Deckard in the sequel.
For those of you that are fans of the original film, you might first squirm at the idea of Scott making a sequel to BLADE RUNNER because one of the fantastic things about the film was the open ending, which left the question as to whether or not Deckard was a replicant. Even the people involved with the film have disagreed on that, but bringing him back in the sequel would give a definitive answer. But this news also conflicts with what producer Andrew Kosove said when the project was fist announced, which was basically that there was no way Ford would be involved in any way.
So the drama about Deckard/Ford’s involvement in the sequel is still ongoing and at this point, we don’t even know in what capacity he’d be returning. For all we know, director Ridley Scott just wants a quick scene with Deckard to have some sort of connection to the original. Or, maybe he wants the entire film to revolve around him. The film is still a ways away from starting production, so we won’t know for a couple of years.
