Harrison Ford is supposedly upbeat about returning for the new Star Wars trilogy
It was easy to predict that as soon as news broke that George Lucas had sold Lucasfilm to Disney and they were moving forward with STAR WARS: EPISODE VII, we’d be inundated with rumors and small updates surrounding the films. But given how many rumors we’ve gotten so far, even I’m surprised by everything that has been circling the internet this past week. There seems to be two main questions: 1) who will direct the next trilogy? and 2) are Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford going to return? Yesterday we heard the rumor that X-MEN: FIRST CLASS director Matthew Vaughn is in talks to direct Episode 7 and today, we get word that Harrison Ford is supposedly interested in reprising Han Solo in the new films.
EW reports that one of their “inside sources” has said “Harrison is open to the idea of doing the movie and he’s upbeat about it, all three of them are.” “All three of them” supposedly meaning Ford, Hamill and Fisher. Most fanboys assumed Hamill and Fisher would be open to returning since they’ve been somewhat positive on Star Wars since it first came out. But Harrison Ford has avoided questions about Star Wars and never got along with George Lucas, even on the Indiana Jones films. But perhaps Lucas’s exit from the series is enough to change his mind. Some might pass this off, but my guess is that Harrison Ford would be open to it since his movie career has struggled lately. As always, take it with a grain of salt until someone at Disney makes it official.
