Henry Cavill is Superman in new pics from Man of Steel, plus the Olsen mystery is solved

Henry Cavill in Man of Steel

After a flurry of final one-sheets for MAN OF STEEL, we now get an onslaught of new images from the film.  Most of these are images of Henry Cavill looking very Superman-y, but hidden in the batch is a picture with a caption that might get some Superman fanboys riled up.  As was long rumored, it’s now confirmed that there won’t be a Jimmy Olsen in the film, but instead, there will be a Jenny Olsen, to be played by unknown Rebecca Buller.  I’m not a die-hard Superman comic reader, nor do I have any great personal attachment to any of the characters, but I’d like to believe that everyone can collectively give a “who cares” to the news of changing the character from a man to a woman.  It doesn’t and shouldn’t matter and I don’t think the sex of Clark Kent’s fellow reporter will have any impact on the story.  But knowing Zack Snyder, I’m sure he’ll have a little joke thrown in there somewhere to address it.  Regardless, the world is excited to see what Snyder has in store for us with his take on Superman.  Below you can see almost a dozen new images, featuring Superman both young and old, as well as images of his parents.

MAN OF STEEL stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Michael Shannon, Ayelet Zurer, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Antje Traue, Christopher Meloni and Laurence Fishburne. The Zack Snyder directed and Christopher Nolan produced film flies into theaters on June 14th, 2013. Man of Steel official synopsis: A young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. As a young man, he journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do. But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind. (Facebook)
