Hugh Jackman stars in the CinemaCon trailer for The Wolverine

Maybe it’s the overly optimistic hope of my inner fanboy, but I’m getting more and more excited for THE WOLVERINE. This new CinemaCon trailer is only a minute long, but it has everything you could want in a Wolverine movie; Hugh Jackman looking awesome, Wolverine fighting ninjas, Wolverine toying with the bad guys and a ton of violence. We still haven’t seen much of Viper or Silver Samurai yet, but I guess there has to be some surprises when the movie hits theaters in July. To be honest, it shouldn’t be that difficult to make a great movie around Wolverine since he’s such a naturally great character. It’s almost sad it hasn’t been done well to date and even more sad that X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE got it so wrong. If director James Mangold can add a nice story in there and keep the action grounded, I think we’re going to be in for a great ride. And come on, it’s Wolverine versus samurais; how can you not be excited to see that?
THE WOLVERINE stars Hugh Jackman, Brian Tee, Will Yun Lee, Hiroyuki Sanada, Svetlana Khodchenkova, Rila Fukushima and James Fraser. The James Mangold directed film is set to open in theaters on July 26th, 2013.
THE WOLVERINE synopsis: Arguably the most beloved character in the X-Men universe, Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) returns to the big screen in the all new epic action-adventure THE WOLVERINE. This time, Logan finds himself in modern day Japan, out of his element and in an unusual world, facing a menacing nemesis that could mean the end of The Wolverine. Vulnerable for the first time and facing emotional and physical limits, he confronts his samurai adversaries as well as his own inner turmoil regarding his immortality. But the battles will leave Logan stronger and more powerful than ever before.
