Hugh Jackman and Dev Patel star in the new Chappie trailer
I’m still not sure what to make of Neill Blomkamp’s next film, CHAPPIE. The early word on the film was that it was going to be more of a comedy, but the first trailer wasn’t funny at all and this one isn’t much different. DISTRICT 9 may have had some funny moments, but it was pretty serious and I don’t think there was one humorous part of ELYSIUM, so maybe Blomkamp started with humor in mind on CHAPPIE and then decided to go serious on us. Time will tell, but I’m guessing the studio has no idea how to market this one since all anyone can think of when they see it is SHORT CIRCUIT. Check out the new trailer below.
The official synopsis for CHAPPIE: Every child comes into the world full of promise, and none more so than Chappie: he is gifted, special, a prodigy. Like any child, Chappie will come under the influence of his surroundings – some good, some bad – and he will rely on his heart and soul to find his way in the world and become his own man. But there’s one thing that makes Chappie different from anyone else: he is a robot. The first robot with the ability to think and feel for himself. His life, his story, will change the way the world looks at robots and humans forever. CHAPPIE stars Hugh Jackman, Dev Patel, Jose Pablo Cantillo, Sigourney Weaver, Die Antwoord and features the voice of Sharlto Copley. The Neill Blomkamp directed film hits theaters on March 6th.
