Hugh Jackman is set to star in Six Years

One of French actor/writer/director extraordinaire Guillaume Canet’s best films is the thriller TELL NO ONE and that film’s success has attracted a lot of attention for everyone involved, even leading to an American remake that director Ben Affleck is lining up.  The novel the movie was based on was written by Harlan Coben and so it’s no surprise that another one of his books, SIX YEARS, is next in line for a movie adaptation.  This time, the simultaneously most masculine and feminine man in the world, Hugh Jackman, is set to take the lead.

The film is very reminiscent of TELL NO ONE and the official, abbreviated Amazon synopsis is: “Six years have passed since Jake Fisher watched Natalie, the love of his life, marry another man. Six years of keeping his promise to leave Natalie alone, and six years of tortured dreams of her life with her new husband, Todd. But six years haven’t come close to extinguishing his feelings, and when Jake comes across Todd’s obituary, he can’t keep himself away from the funeral. There he gets the glimpse of Todd’s wife he’s hoping for . . . but she is not Natalie. As Jake searches for the truth, his picture-perfect memories of Natalie begin to unravel. Mutual friends of the couple either can’t be found or don’t remember Jake. No one has seen Natalie in years. Jake’s search for the woman who broke his heart—and who lied to him—soon puts his very life at risk as it dawns on him that the man he has become may be based on carefully constructed fiction.”

Sounds like a fascinating premise and one that Hugh Jackman would do great in.  But without a screenwriter or a director, this is likely a ways away from hitting the big screen.  Hugh Jackman will be busy playing Wolverine and then promoting the films over the summer, so we’ll just have to keep this one in the back of our mind for now.  (THR)
