Ice Cube will join Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum in 21 Jump Street

Former rapper turned actor Ice Cube is in negotiations to star alongside Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum in the upcoming comedy 21 JUMP STREET. The film will be based on the popular 80’s television show that had cops with baby-faces take down small crime in local high schools. In this reboot, Ice Cube would play the precinct captain who sends the undercover cops out on missions. As you all know, this is the series that boosted Johnny Depp‘s career but sadly there is still no word on whether or not he’s been asked to do a cameo (he’s willing guys, make it happen). Keep an eye out for more casting news, 21 JUMP STREET hits theaters on March 16, 2012.
In other Ice Cube news, he’s shopping around a drama in which he will star and direct called CHROME AND PAINT. The film will be a gritty drama in the lines of the 1991 film BOYZ N THE HOOD and will focus on the “custom car culture of South Central Los Angeles”. As more news about this arises, we’ll let you know.
