Immerse yourself in Hogwarts, Harry Potter Years 1-7 Part 1 coming to Blu-ray

Just a day after it was announced that HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS: PART 1 would be coming to Blu-ray, Warner Home Video has announced that on the same day (April 15, 2011) they will be releasing a box set called HARRY POTTER: YEARS 1-7 PART 1 on Blu-ray as well. The seven movie box set will have a nine-disc gift set that includes “an abundance of spectacular special features on each movie.” It’s set to retail at $134.99.

Although I appreciate Warner trying to get Harry Potter to the public, I think this is a bit cheap. Anyone who is a hardcore Harry Potter fan will wait until they come out with an ultimate collector’s edition that will include all eight films with a ton of special features. I think what they are trying to do now is put out this box set to generate some money, and then around Thanksgiving they will release the final film on Blu-ray. And then to drag it out even more, we will probably get a huge box set in the spring of 2012. I really hope they won’t do this, but it sounds like a stunt any studio would pull.
