Iron Man 2 soars to box office supremacy

There was never a question of whether or not IRON MAN 2 would be successful, the question was just how successful would it be. Well, the answer is; $133.6 million. That’s a very impressive number, but keep in mind IM2 opened in more screens world wide than any other movie in history, breaking the record held by THE DARK KNIGHT. Even with that, IM2 is on a nice pace to at least make a run at some more lofty box office numbers, although the average to good word of mouth we’re hearing already usually isn’t a good sign. But hey, I thought the movie was a lot of fun. The other new film of the weekend was BABIES, which surprisingly managed a $1.5 million opening.
Next week, IRON MAN 2 has to square off against ROBIN HOOD. I’ve always been a fan of the character of Robin Hood, but I don’t think there’s a big summer movie I’m looking forward to any less than ROBIN HOOD. The previews seem very “blah” to me.
