Is Fright Night director Craig Gillespie in or out for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies?

It’s not looking good for PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES. As soon as someone gets attached to the film adaptation, they seem to drop not too long after. This might be the case when it comes to director Craig Gillespie (FRIGHT NIGHT).

Rumor has been spreading that Gillespie left the project not too long ago for unknown reasons. Before the news could get too far, Lionsgate swooped in to respond saying that Gillespie was still on the project and it was due to move ahead as scheduled. But when it comes to the drop history of this film, it seems a little fishy.

Natalie Portman was originally on to star and produce then decided to drop the starring role. Several actresses have been asked to star over the past few months: Rooney Mara, Mila Kunis, Anne Hathaway, Emma Stone, Olivia Wilde, and Mia Wasikowska. All of them turned it down. Originally David O. Russell was set to direct then left. There was also interest from CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS helmers Phil Lord and Chris Miller. They ended up moving on as well. Mike White (SCHOOL OF ROCK) was attached for a short period of time and swiftly left as soon as he got it.

Gillespie is the latest to be attached to the project. So we will have to see if he continues to remain a part of the eloquent zombie tale.
