J.J. Abrams states that Star Trek 2 will not be filmed in 3D

One of the most anticipated sequels of 2013 is STAR TREK 2. Finally J.J. Abrams has freed up enough time to get everything going.
The director is very excited about the script that Damon Lindelof, Robert Orci and Alex Kurtzman have delivered to him. Abrams says that it’s all his to screw up but in his opinion, it’s going to be an amazing sequel. He also hopes to clean up any mistakes that he made with the previous film. I don’t recall any so he must be reaching for perfection on this one. There was no reference to Khan being the villain either. I guess that’s a card he wants to play close to his chest.
One good thing is that Abrams will not be filming the second installment in 3D. This is what he had to say about his plans, “We’re shooting on film, 2-D, and then we’ll do a good high-end conversion like the ‘Harry Potter’ movie and all that. Luckily, with our release date now we have the months needed to do it right because if you rush it, it never looks good. We were talking about [shooting in IMAX] and I would love to do it. IMAX is my favorite format; I’m a huge fan.” Can’t wait.
