J.K. Simmons to join Mark Wahlberg and Kate Beckinsale in Contraband

One of the greatest character actors in Hollywood, J.K. Simmons (who is most known for his role in the first SPIDER-MAN films as J. Jonah Jamison as well as JUNO’s dad) has joined the cast for the upcoming thriller CONTRABAND. Starring Mark Wahlberg, Kate Beckinsale, Ben Foster, Giovanni Ribisi, Lukas Haas and Diego Luna, the film follows a former smuggler turned security guard who falls on hard times and is pulled back into his old life of crime. Right now the film is set to open on March 16, 2012 (which is subject to change) and will be directed by Baltasar Kormakur.
This sounds like a pretty decent cast so this may turn into one of those pre-summer winners that is worth seeing. I think you all know how much I love Mark Wahlberg so I won’t go there again, but as much as I like Walhberg I dislike Ben Foster. I don’t know why, but he looks like a guy who’s completely untrustworthy. Maybe he’s just a really great actor to make me think that.
