Jake Gyllenhaal set to star in End of Watch

Jake Gyllenhaal is set to star in the cop drama END OF WATCH from director David Ayer (who wrote TRAINING DAY and directed HARSH TIMES). The film’s story is being kept under wraps at this time, but we know that it will be “gritty” (how original, a gritty cop drama) and will center around two friends that are police officers. No word on when filming will start or who will play opposite Gyllenhaal but we’ll let you know as soon as we do.

I’m starting to rethink my whole appreciation of Jake Gyllenhaal. For the most part he is a swell actor, but his choices in films are becoming more and more average. From last year’s LOVE & OTHER DRUGS and PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME and now SOURCE CODE (which I think does have some potenial), he just seems all over the place. I expected him to explode in the form of Matt Damon or Leonardo DiCaprio, but he’s not doing anything that stands out to me. I’m not going to give up hope just yet, just throwing it out there.
