James Cameron re-releasing Titanic in 3D in 2012

I used to have a lot of respect for James Cameron.  He was always on the forefront of technology and was a leader amongst his peers when it came to innovative ways to make movies.  Not only that, he put everything on the line with TITANIC when no one else would touch it.  Then he turned around and did the same thing again with AVATAR, once again proving all his critics wrong.  But he rubbed me the wrong way with his support of holding back the Premium VOD service and with the news that he’s post-converting his 1997 hit TITANIC to 3D and then releasing it next year, I think he’s turned into a hypocrite.

Cameron has slammed movies (most notably PIRANHA 3D) that use cheap 3D or don’t actually shoot in 3D and do the conversion in post production.  Now he’s doing the same thing to one of his own films.  This clearly feels like a publicity stunt in order to drum up some cash before AVATAR 2.  Anyway, you can catch Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet and Billy Zane in TITANIC 3D on April 6th, 2012, which also marks the centenary of the ship’s fateful voyage.
