James Franco and Anne Hathaway may host Academy Awards

James Franco and Anne Hathaway have been asked by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences to host the 2011 Academy Awards, and both may accept the offer.  Apparently Academy president, Tom Sherak, wants to up the ratings of this years show and that means trying to hit younger audiences.  And if you are trying to hit a younger crowd, who better to go with than Hathaway who has grown up before our eyes since 2001’s PRINCESS DIARIES and James Franco who stole the hearts of young girls as Harry Osborn in 2002’s SPIDER-MAN. Both are established actors and have great comedic timing but can they pull off an Oscar show-looks like we’ll find out.

The 81st Academy Awards was one of the best, in my opinion.  Hugh Jackman was an amazing host and his opening number is the best in Academy Awards history.  I’m guess I’m ok with Franco and Hathaway, but really I’d much prefer to see Neil Patrick Harris give it a go.  It would be Legen…wait for it…dary!
