James Franco and Cate Blanchett drop out of While We're Young

Noah Baumbach is an acquired taste, but at the rate he’s going, he’s not going to get a chance to get any more fans because his latest effort, WHILE WE’RE YOUNG keeps running into problems. It was scheduled to start filming sometime soon, but after today it has lost two of its four main stars in James Franco and Cate Blanchett. We’re not sure if Greta Gerwig is still attached and that leaves Ben Stiller as the only star still confirmed to the relationship comedy/drama. The film (if it ever gets made) is about a young, hip couple that provide the inspiration for an older, stuck-up couple to loosen up. Where Baumbach is going to take that is anyone’s guess, but I’m sure it will be a letdown.
Baumbach still has plenty of time to find some replacements, but I have to throw a red flag when two stars at the caliber of James Franco and Cate Blanchett drop out. Granted, both have bigger and better movies they’re attached to with Franco recently signing on for OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL and Blanchett committing to THE HOBBIT.
