James Franco, Kate Mara and Danny Boyle bring you the 127 Hours trailer

After SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE, I think a lot of people are interested to see what Danny Boyle is going to next. Well, the answer is 127 HOURS, which is the true story of Aron Ralston, who famously lost an arm while mountain biking in Moab, Utah. It’s a famous story because he amputated his own arm after being trapped by a boulder. There are a couple of things I noticed about this trailer that cause at least a little concern. First, we didn’t see much of James Franco actually trapped in the boulder. I have to assume that most of the story centers on his being trapped and not his fun time with the two girls he met. I have no idea how Boyle is going to make a guy trapped between two boulders interesting. Second, we got a lot of split screen camera work, which is Boyle’s signature, but it was overused in the trailer.
Of course, neither of those complaints mean the movie won’t be great, but I’m hoping this is a lot more 28 DAYS LATER and a lot less THE BEACH. James Franco, Kate Mara, Amber Tamblyn and Lizzy Caplan star in the film due to hit theaters on November 5th. Watch the trailer here.
